Cofarmers Expands Beyond Agriculture With New “CoMall” Feature
Cofarmers, a fast-growing agricultural technology company known for its classified marketplace dedicated to agro-related products and services, has announced a major update to its platform. The company revealed through its social media channels that users can now list non-agricultural products and services, marking a significant shift in the platform’s positioning and overall business direction.
Introducing CoMall
At the heart of this update is a newly launched feature called CoMall. Unlike the traditional Cofarmers Marketplace, which has primarily served farmers, agro dealers, and service providers. CoMall opens the door for general consumer goods, non-agricultural services, and everyday products to be showcased on the platform.
This means Cofarmers is transitioning from a specialized agricultural marketplace into a more inclusive, multi-category classified marketplace, expanding its reach and commercial potential.
Why the Shift?
According to Ogunleye Johnson, the Brand Consultant for Cofarmers who co-announced the update, the decision was driven by continuous feedback from the platform’s loyal subscribers. Users reportedly pushed for Cofarmers to evolve into a one-stop online marketplace a platform where they could buy and sell not only agricultural items but also broader categories of consumer goods.
He explained that subscriber insights consistently pointed toward the need for a unified platform where farmers, traders, and general consumers could conveniently access both agro and non-agro products without switching between multiple online marketplaces.
Additional Features for Better Visibility and User Experience
Alongside Cofarmers Mall, the platform also rolled out new engagement and visibility tools:
- REEL posting for videos
Sellers can now share short video reels showcasing products and services—an upgrade that aligns Cofarmers with modern digital marketplace trends and boosts product visibility. - Like Button for Listings
The new “Like” feature lets users engage with products directly, helping sellers gauge interest and enabling the platform’s algorithm to promote high-engagement listings. - New Design Interface
To ensure smooth navigation and improved user experience, Cofarmers has restructured the platform into three accessible sections:- Agro – dedicated to agricultural products, equipment, livestock, inputs, and agro services.
-
-
Mall – the new section for non-agricultural products and general classified listings.
-
Reels – a dynamic section where users can upload short promotional videos, increasing visibility and engagement for their listings.
-
This segmentation makes the platform more organized, user-friendly, and accessible, enabling users to quickly find what they need. Making the marketplace more appealing, interactive, and competitive with mainstream online marketplaces in Nigeria.
A Bold Step Forward
With this expansion, Cofarmers is positioning itself for broader market relevance while retaining its agricultural roots. The introduction of Cofarmers Mall signals the company’s ambition to become a comprehensive classified platform, bridging the gap between agriculture-focused users and everyday online shoppers.
As Nigeria’s digital commerce landscape continues to expand, Cofarmers’ move may redefine how hybrid niche marketplaces operate, blending sector-specific value with wider consumer appeal.
